I am a licensed clinical marriage and family therapist (LCMFT) in the state of Kansas. I provide therapy services to couples and individuals from all across the Kansas City metro. My advanced degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and Community Counseling was completed at John Brown University in Northwest Arkansas.
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) is the approach that guides my work. My commitment to continual growth in EFT has led me to complete advanced trainings in EFT and specialized supervision. In addition, I hold memberships in both ICEEFT (International Centre for Excellence in Emotion Focused Therapy) and the Kansas City EFT Community.
Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) is an approach that I use when helping clients find relief and healing from traumatic experiences. I am Level 2 trained in EMDR.
My clinical experience has given me to opportunity to partner with children, adults, couples, and families. Before going into private practice, I was part of a non-profit organization targeted toward helping children and families. During that season, I worked with families to address traumatic experiences, life-cycle transitions, grief, anxiety, depression, and relational distress. I also walked with families as they navigated the foster care system and adoption processes.
In my personal life, I’ve been married to Josh Johns for 10 years and we have 2 lovely daughters. Prior to life as a therapist, I planned to be a literature professor. That is partly why I’m often perusing bookstores and reading multiple novels simultaneously. When I’m not reading, you’ll find me caring for my plants or researching places to travel.
